Well the translation itself has nothing to do with the FNT tool.
However you can use the FNT tool to complete the character set with more characters like é ñ ì etc. etc. and thus be able to use such characters in the translations 
QTZ is adapting the PT translation to the Unofficial Carma Patch, he might contact Espyo to tell him about the accentuated/diacritic characters so that he completes it.
